Ok, so we stayed a few days in Longreach before heading off again. It seems like not much exciting happened on this leg either! We stopped the night at Llyod Jones Weir another free camp spot. There was lots of trees so we took care not to park under any red gums that are notorious for dropping branches with no notice given.

Suzanna playing with some dry gum leaves outside our camp.
The next day the oldest three girls went for a 1.4k run! We were following in the car, it was a dirt road with little to no traffic so they were very safe. Gabrielle ran for a bit too! After a visit to the local town (Blackall) the girls ran back home down the same safe dirt road! That's almost 3k's running!! They all had sore leg muscles the next day!!! Just before Blackall we passed a small "town" where there was a display of old farm equipment, tractors etc. It was awesome and free too!

Next day we did a long stint and spent the night at a caravan park in Augathella! Oh the bliss of hot showers, power and lights!!! Didn't get to take photo's of this place, it was worth the almost $50 we paid for the night.
Set off again about mid morning following more long straight roads! We stopped at a little playground for lunch.

Another LONG straight road!

Cactus trees were very common along the roadside.
Our next stop was Wallumbilla where we stayed at the showgrounds with free power and hot showers!!! A great spot to camp. We stayed here about 5 nights. This place was walking distance to the country store, post office and playground.

The nights out here were really cold - but the days were lovely. We even had a couple of frosts!! They weren't real frosts by New Zealand standards - it was all gone by 8am!
We drove back to Roma to do our shopping and came across these trees - what the girls call the "pregnant trees"!

Anyone know what they really are?
The big news is that while we were in Wallumbilla we spied a puppy to give away - so we got him!

He is a Kelpie X Red Heeler and is adorable! The girls love him. For the first few times in the car he whined till he fell asleep! He's okay now!
Next stop was an overnighter at a truck stop! The girls managed to find a pile of tar covered stones and had no idea how dirty the back of their pants were after sliding down the pile!

Chantel and Chana returning to the caravan at Darr Creek truck stop. Next door was a small country store and gas station.
Next morning we up and left for GYMPIE! The girls were so excited, especially the littler ones! They couldn't wait to get back to there stuff! It was fun to start recognizing some landmarks as we got closer to "home".
We are now camping at the showgounds in Gympie and wake every morning (except Sunday) to the sound of galloping hooves! We are about 10 meters from the race track!

The girls have now been reunited with their bikes and scooters which are getting a lot of use!

Skipper has settled in well and is enjoying being in one place for a while! The girls are training him and he's responding well so far. The law here says a dog must always be on lead - note the attached lead (with blue handle)!! He loves the race track and has fun chasing the girls up and down the track!
Here endeth the saga of our travels so far. Not sure where to from here but will let you know when we know!
